It is the alternation between mountain and sea its somehow magical how while you are on the mountain within a few minutes you descend and find yourself at a beautiful beach. Hire a small boat to reach all the hidden beaches your little private paradise for the day! If on the other hand you are an outgoing nature relax in the lively beach bars with cool cocktails and dance music. Remember to save some strength to find your way back home!
Corfu town is an experience on its own. Wander around the narrow paved streets at all times of the day mix with the locals notice the tune of their voices these people sing they dont speak! Buy souvenirs from the traditional shops have your portrait painted by one of those itinerant painters who are always ready to capture the look on your face. Have coffee in that wonderful square the biggest in the Balkans. The coffee in Corfu is not a simple procedure its a ritual! Walk up the fortress to enjoy the view and if youre lucky and there is a concert in it dont miss it! Let yourself loose and words like love romance peacefulness flirt optimism laziness and selffulfillment will be revealed to you.
And then there is the food. Corfu has plenty of new tastes and is full of little taverns where local chefs create all the traditional dishes with extra care and devotion! The Mediterranean diet based on fish handpicked mountain green and olive oil is acknowledged as the healthiest and most delicious cuisine in the world. Try as many traditional dishes as you can. With every bite you get a taste of the purity of Greek nature.
Eventually the day leads to night and Corfu nightlife is full of surprises beautiful bars and clubs dotted all over the island. Most of them are gathered in two spots : Corfu town and the south part of the island Kavos in Lefkimi. The nightlife in Corfu is stylish and cosmopolitan while in Kavo things turn wild and fascinating. As soon as the sun sets the lights of the bars are turned on and the music fills the air! From the early afternoon until the next morning young people are moving from one place to another dancing drinking and generally experiencing the Greek summer fun!
